THE
CHAMBER
Watford and West Herts Chamber of Commerce is an
independent non-political organisation whose prime
purpose is to act on behalf of the business community.
We work to represent members’ views and to support their
interests. Our membership is drawn from all kinds of
business ranging from manufacturing, processing and
distribution to the supply of professional and other
services.
In today’s ever changing world with increasing
technological development and uncertain economic
climate, the Chamber has a vital supportive role to
play. It is active in every walk of business life,
encouraging relationships between companies, helping to
develop market interest in Watford and South West
Hertfordshire products and services and representing
members’ views to three local authorities, County
Council and other public bodies whose decisions can have
far reaching effects on the local economy.
Our directors are highly experienced local business men
& women who are fully conversant with the many benefits
and any problems associated with the area and we
represent members' interests when attending meetings and
sitting on a variety of committees. The chamber chairs
the watford town centre partnership which as the name
suggests looks after the area within the ring road in
watford. We oversee such matters as the christmas lights
and the hanging baskets. We continue to liase closely
with the watford council on crime reduction, street
cleaning, parking and traffic issues. During the summer
we ran an italian market and there will be a french
market coming to the town in september. Our aim is to
make watford a nicer place to live in. Work and visit.
We also sit on the board of one watford which consists
of some of the main organisations in the town such as
the police and health authorities. We are the voice of
business for the area and we will in the autumn be
launching the watford sustainability awards which will
recognise those who are leading the way to a more
sustainable town by promoting economic, environmental
and social benefits to the community with their
individual or work related achievements. The chamber is
also an independent judge for the watford & north west
london business awards which celebrate successful local
businesses. The awards final took place recently at the
grove and we were delighted that there were as usual a
number of chamber members amongst the winners.
Application forms will be sent out in the autumn for the
2007 awards and we do encourage all chamber members to
enter.
